Milestones

NESSI was launched in September 2005 with the initial vision of supporting the transformation of the economy towards service oriented business models. Since 2005, NESSI has taken the role of an ETP through all its dimensions, from implementing a research collaboration mechanism to defining the major future research directions.

Over the years 2007 to 2010, NESSI defined NEXOF, the NESSI Open Service Framework, to embody the research collaboration needs and results. Following the identification of NEXOF’s role as key in supporting research collaboration and creating a repository of services contributions across different stakeholders, NESSI has evolved and is focusing its role on the NESSI Open Innovation Environment, providing both a coherent approach to research and research results and leading to the evolution and deployment of services in target application areas.
