NESSI Research Structure

As detailed in the NESSI Open Innovation Environment page, the aim of NESSI is to achieve impact in the Internet of Services.
To support this aim, NESSI focused its effort at research level with the creation of the NESSI Open Services Framework, evolving this framework towards the larger NESSI Open Innovation Environment that encompasses not only the reference architecture, proofs of concept and validation alongside other key activities such as applications, the application of services in the Future Internet and standardisation.

Throughout this implementation, NESSI has continuously worked to support the coherence of services research, facilitated through the NESSI research structure.

This research structure classifies projects as Strategic (NSP) or Compliant (NCP) – depending on
  • their contribution to the NESSI Community (what role can each project play in terms of creating the dynamics on a specific topic)
  • their contribution through patterns to the reference architecture initially developed in the NEXOF framework
  • their contribution to the overall reference architecture, proofs of concept and methodologies
  • their adoption of the NESSI approach towards their own results.

The selection criteria for the NSPs and NCPs are currently being revised to align to the NESSI evolution and the NESSI Open Innovation Environment. The updated criteria will be uploaded end of February 2011 – enabling you to make your projects or proposals strategic or compliant.
